Trailering
Florida Trailer Law requires brakes on trailers with a gross weight tabulation (GWT) 3,000 lbs or more, airboat trailers generally do not meet this criteria provided it shall not exceed 40% of the gross weight of the towing vehicle when connected to the trailer and the combination of vehicles, consisting of the towing vehicle and its total towed load, is capable of complying with the performance requirements of s. 316.262. Trailers over 2,500 lbs must be titled and all trailers must be registered, licensed plated and current year registration decal applied. All running, signaling and brake lights, tires, hitching, chains and tie downs must comply to Department of Transportation and your state's highway approved requirements. Trailers used for governments, farming, rural, or agricultural purposes have certain exemptions that may apply.
